UNCITRAL LAC DAYS – Argentina USAL:
The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) joins forces with the Universidad del Salvador of Buenos Aires offering this side event to all the attendees of the Buenos Aires International Maritime Law School.
UNCITRAL’s Side Event Panel:
- Dr. Miquel Roca: Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain before the UNCITRAL to sign the Rotterdam Rules.
- Débora Aramayo: Maritime and Transport Law Professor at USAL.
- Erick Oms: Maritime and Transport Law Expert and Vice-President of the IIDM Argentina.
UNCITRAL’s Side Event content:
- The Rotterdam Rules: UNCITRAL’s latest Convention on Contracts for the International Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly by Sea.
- Negotiable Cargo Documents: UNCITRAL Working Group VI is currently developing a new instrument on negotiable cargo documents. While bills of lading have been widely used as documents of title in the maritime sector, transport documents issued by rail, road and air carriers are typically non-negotiable. The new instrument intends to create a new type of document of title entitled “negotiable cargo document”, which could perform an analogous function as a maritime bill of lading for the carriage of goods for any mode of transport in a multimodal or unimodal context.
